Boil water advisory lifted…

February 8, 2009

Residents of Trenton can now drink their water after the Hastings and Prince Edward Counties Health Unit lifted a boil water advisory.

The advisory, issued Friday night at 11:30 p.m., was lifted Sunday morning after laboratory tests showed no evidence of bacterial contamination. The water is safe for use, a press release issued Sunday morning stated.

The precautionary boil water advisory was for consumers of the water supply in the City of Quinte West, including Trenton east and west, Consecon, Carrying Place and Glen Miller. The advisory was issued due to a loss of system pressure which may have lead to direct contamination or contamination through back siphonage or pressurized back flow.

The situation created the potential for contamination to be drawn into the water system.
