Consecon Community Day 2014, was a tremendous success, and as promised delivered absolutely something for everyone. The day kicked off with the “Car Boot Sale” in the Emm’s Restaurant parking lot and the bargain hunting continued on at the area-wide Garage and Yard Sales which were being held simultaneously.
The Consecon Masonic Lodge hosted their all you can eat Pancake Breakfast, prior to the charity car wash for Muscular Dystrophy Canada. A PEC fire truck and OPP car were on display for the kids at the Emm’s Restaurant property as well as free all day mini golf.
Art, Yoga, and Chi Kung demonstrations were held at Janet B’s Gallery, where those who dropped by were able to add their own unique stroke to the “Make A Memory” Consecon Day community art piece.
Brian McIntosh of County FM 99.3 was in attendance as part of the station’s membership drive.
The Consecon Library held their annual the used book sale raising over $300.00 and hosted a kids craft area.
Just before noon Redtail Vineyards, the County’s only off grid winery, hosted “Simple Summer Surprises” a demonstration of healthy, innovative recipes by Trish Krause, Holistic Nutritionist & Culinary Adventurer.
Once the Soap Box medal and trophy presentations had been made and Mill Street was re-opened to traffic, folks headed on down to the Consecon Legion for a Pig Roast dinner,
which also served as the lead-in to the day capping Street Dance when once again Mill Street was closed to traffic this time in front of the Legion and the Masonic Hall. The County’s own Little Bluff entertained and served up those Soulful, Bluesy Rock n Roll dance tunes they’re known for, keeping the crowd dancing till just shy of midnight.
