July 10 – Coffee With The Mayor @ Emm’s

Join Mayor Robert Quaiff for “COFFEE WITH THE MAYOR”

8 to 9am on Friday, July 10 Emm’s Restaurant 20261 Loyalist Parkway, Consecon

Businesses, community organizations, and newcomers to the area are invited to this drop-in opportunity to share information about upcoming events or activities occurring in the County.

“Coffee with the Mayor” will also provide an opportunity for the Mayor to share what’s going on with Council, what has been accomplished, and what’s coming up!

This is the third “Coffee with the Mayor” opportunity, where the Mayor hopes to learn more about issues that are important to community members. The Mayor plans to continue holding these sessions in various locations throughout the County over the upcoming year.

July 02 – Norris Whitney Bridge Work Begins


July 02, 2015

Beginning July 02, upgrades will happen on the Norris Whitney bridge, crossing the Bay of Quinte. Crews will be repairing the asphalt surface and entrances to the bridge (both Belleville and Rossmore sides). The work is expected to take several weeks causing traffic delays.

Lane closures will take place from 8 pm to 6am Sunday to Friday. Flag staff and police will be on scene while workers are on site with construction wrapping up by mid August.

The Creation of Canada Day

July 1, 1867:  The British North America Act (today known as the Constitution Act, 1867) created Canada.

June 20, 1868:  Governor General Lord Monck signs a proclamation that requests all Her Majesty’s subjects across Canada to celebrate July 1.

1879:  A federal law makes July 1 a statutory holiday as the “anniversary of Confederation,” which is later called “Dominion Day.”

October 27, 1982: July 1,  “Dominion Day” officially becomes Canada Day.
