A $25,000 grant was approved from the Federal Enabling Accessibility Fund toward an assessible entrance and washrooms at the Ameliasburgh museum site.
The museum’s outdoor washrooms are assessible, but do not meet the full standards and are not open from October to April. During those months, people with disabilities are directed to the town hall about a block away.
The capital project estimate is $40,000. Three quotes ranged from $28,000 to $70,000 but did not include electrical required to activate the door and adjustments to the water line to ensure that only the line to the museum is open during winter months.
Friday, the county also received $22,896 in funding to study a public transit plan for the County.
